AEW Dynamite – 17th June 2020 Result And Review

Preview: We are two weeks away from the first night of the “FYTER FEST” event, and while we know all the championships will be defended, including AEW World Champion Jon Moxley facing Casino Ladder Match winner Brian Cage, it isn’t set in stone just who will wrestle over the World Tag Team Titles or the TNT Championship.

Match 1: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page (c) vs. The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall w/ Brandi Rhodes) – WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH.

Bell rings, being at the number two spot in the tag team division rankings, The Natural Nightmares have quietly accumulated five wins in 2020 without having a single loss to that record. Knowing that QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes fights the championship duo of Page and Omega, who are at their own seven-match undefeated streak in 2020.

Both men fought and tagged their partners frequently, at the closing moments of the match, Omega kicks Marshall on his face and pinned him to retain his tag team championship.

Winner: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page.

Match 2: Anna Jay vs. Abadon.

Bell rings, The Star of the Show Anna Jay is all set for the spotlight against the returning Abadon. Jay fought as if she is possessed by someone and brought a beatdown to Jay and pins her to give her the first loss in AEW.

Winner: Abadon.

After the match, Dark Order appears and takes Jay away.

Match 3: MJF (w/ Wardlow) vs. Billy.

Bell rings, MJF who is currently sitting at the number one spot in the Men’s Rankings list, has won all his six singles matches in 2020 and holds an overall record of eleven wins and one loss. One person who doesn’t care about MJF’s accomplishments is Billy. The father of The Gunn Club has a big list of accomplishments of his lengthy wrestling career, even though he serves as a coach in AEW, Billy is always ready to gear up for a fight.

Both men went toe-to-toe, whenever Billy was close to getting the win Wardlow tried to enter the ring, this allowed MJF to deliver a knockout punch to Bill while wearing a ring and gets the win.

Winner: MJF.

After the match, Jurassic Express got into a brawl with MJF and Wardlow.

Later, Britt Baker was seen taken for a ride during her interview.

Match 4: Cody vs. Ricky Starks – TNT Championship – Cody’s Open Challenge.

On May 23rd Cody defeats Lance Archer to become the 1st ever TNT Champion in AEW history, then on May 27th, he starts an Open Challenge to anyone in and out of the company. On June 3rd Cody defeats Jungle Boy and then on June 10th Cody defeats Private Party’s Marq Quen.

The challenge was then accepted today by Ricky Starks, who has paid his dues in this business and have wrestled all over the world including Japan. With this incredible match for tonight, both men fought like warriors in and out of the ring. Eventually, Cody won the match with Cross Rhodes, the champion made it a point that he should shake the opponent’s hand for an amazing match.

Winner: Cody.

Match 5: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. The SuperBad Death Squad (Kip Sabian & Jimmy Havoc w/ Penelope Ford)

Bell rings, The Young Bucks are in for a tag team action on “Dynamite” after a very long time to face Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc. Kip and Jimmy chose to get involved in the aftermath of the FTR/Butcher & Blade tag team match last week. After FTR rose victorious, Matt and Nick Jackson chose to come out to the ring to thank Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, but it was ruined when The Butcher who entered the ring and attacked them.

Seeing this Sabian and Havoc also chose to come out to the ring to join the fight. This brawl called out Kenny Omega and Adam Page for some help. Tonight The Young Bucks took on Sabian & Havoc, where Bucks had control of the match and brought in the fight. When Nick got the tag he took Sabian & Havoc out. Both teams fought and frequently tagged each other and we did witness close pinfalls one after another. The match was later won by The Young Bucks after a vicious superkick to both Sabian and Havoc.

Winner: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson).

After the match, brawl irrupted in the ring between the AEW’s tag team division.

In an interview, it was known to the AEW fans that Brain Cage can not wait to fight Jon Moxley.

Later, Rebel was seen searching for Britt Baker and she was seen in a garbage dump.

Match 6: Best Friends (Trent & Chuck Taylor) vs. Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara) – #1 Contendership on the line for the AEW Tag Team Championship.

Bell rings, Trent and Chuck who secured their “FYTER FEST” World Tag Team Title match by winning over Private Party during the “Buy-In” kick-off show for “DOUBLE OR NOTHING”. The Best Friends then challenged Jericho and Sammy to face them in a match looking for revenge as Jericho and his team attacked Orange Cassidy last week.

Without wasting any time, Best Friends brought in the fight and took out Le Sex Gods at the beginning of the match with a beatdown. Jericho then quickly delivered a missile dropkick to Taylor and gained the control of the match. Guevara who then got the tag also dominates Taylor, Le Sex Gods enjoyed this beatdown turn by turn between them but were still not that close to getting the win. Both teams fought back and forth with each other.

Guevara the launched a kick to Trent’s face followed by an attempt to pin him but it ended in two counts. As Jericho and Taylor fought out of the ring, Guevara delivered a Shooting star press but that was still not enough to get the win. Trent’s then gets up and attacks Guevara and presses him hardly to the ring canvas to secure the win.

Winner: Best Friends (Trent & Chuck Taylor).

After the match, Orange Cassidy appears in the ring as a cameraman and attacks Jericho for the beatdown he received last week and ended it with a Superman punch.
