WWE Smackdown – 5th June 2020 Result And Review

Preview: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Bayley & Sasha Banks, Jeff Hardy tells his side of the story, Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles come face-to-face.

The show begins, a video package was played from last week regarding the hit-and-run incident involving Jeff Hardy being arrested at the start of the show and emerging at the ring in the main-event match.

WWE announcer Michael Cole updates on Elias saying that he is suffering from torn pectoral muscle and broken ribs.

Hardy then makes his way out to the ring and grabs the microphone to explain what happend last week. Hardy said as he was driving for the show and his car was hit from behind, he then continued saying that last week was tough for him he had to explain to everyone what exactly happend.

Hardy then said, the police conducted some tests and told him that they have seen some footage over and over again and gave the description of a man at the scene who has red hair and beard. Hearing this Sheamus came out and tells Hardy to man up and accept the hit-and-run incident.

Sheamus then continued to disrespect Hardy and mocked his wife and kids. Hearing this Hardy runs towards Sheamus, seeing this Sheamus beats him down.

Backstage, Mr Money in the Bank Otis was seen with his girlfriend Mandy Rose, where Otis was wearing King Baron Corbin’s crown. Later, King Corbin comes searching for his crown and he was then told by people around that Otis took it.

Match 1: King Baron Corbin vs. Otis.

Bell rings, As King Corbin was already angry over Otis for wearing his crown to the ring, King Corbin brings the fight and dominates Otis with punches and chin lock. Otis fought back by showing some tremendous strength. As the fight continued out of the ring, King Corbin attacked Otis with a steel chair and got himself disqualified.

Winner: Otis by DQ.

After the match, King Corbin continued to beat Otis in the ring, but Otis fought back and walked backstage with Mandy Rose.

The Miz and John Morrison were seen making Universal Champion Braun Strowman’s life living hell by pulling pranks on him from the production truck.

Backstage, Shorty G was seen in an interview where he beat up by Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura, The New Day came to rescue him.

Match 2: Sonya Deville vs. Lacey Evans.

As Evans was making her way out to the ring, Deville attacked her from behind. The match between them last week ended in no contest, Evans fought with keeping in mind that Deville is no longer a joke and should be taken seriously. Both women started the match where their strength was equally matched, accidentally they attacked the referee and the match was stopped for the time being. Both women were asked to head to their respective ring post as the medical staff was heading to the ring for help.

The match was then restarted by a new referee, both women fought in an out of the ring. Evans tried to win the match by a moon sault from the top of the ropes but fell short in the pinfall. Deville fought back with all she got for a desperate win. Suddenly, Mandy Rose appeared on the titantron screen, seeing this Evans delivers a Women Right Hand to Deville and secures the much-needed win for herself.

Winner: Lacey Evans.

Backstage, ‘The Monster Among Men’ Universal Champion Braun Strowman was seen in an interview, where The Miz and Morrison was seen messing around and they accidentally put the green paint over the interviewer instead of pouring it over Strowman.

In the ring, Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles comes face-to-face ahead of Intercontinental Championship clash, Bryan who has already proved his point twice last week by defeating Sheamus, Styles agreed to face Drew Gulak right now.

Match 3: AJ Styles vs. Drew Gulak.

Bell ring, with being qualified Brayn still faced Sheamus last week to secure his spot, Styles agreed to do the same by taking on Gulak this week to make a statement on Friday Night SmackDown. Both men brought the fight where Gulak tried his best to make he way into the Intercontinental Championship match for next week.

Styles overpowered Gulak most of the time during the match, as Bryan was watching the match closely, Styles kept mocking him. Seeing an opportunity, Gulak pushes Styles back on the ring canvas and pinned him for victory.

Winner: Drew Gulak

Backstage, The Miz and John Morrison were seen destroying Braun Strowmans car by breaking its glass.

Match 4: The New Day and Shorty G vs. Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and Mojo Rawley.

Bell ring, frequent tags were exchanged by all men in the ring, Kingston and Big E dominated the match for a good amount of time. Shorty G entered the ring and fought with heart came close to win the match for his team numerous times but fell short with the attacks from his opponents. Rawley then brought the fight but fell short as he was attacked and pinned by Kofi Kingston at the centre of the ring.

Winner: The New Day and Shorty G.

Backstage, Strowman was seen angry after he saw his cars were destroyed and headed to search for Miz and Morrison. Strowman found them inside the van and unable to open the door as it was locked, Strowman turned the van upside down.

Match 5: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross vs. Bayley & Sasha Banks – Women’s Tag Team Titles Match.

All four woman were seen in action in and out of the ring, where Banks and Bayley played safe most of the time and attacked Cross. Cross then desperately tags Bliss, Bliss climbs the ropes only to get a belly to belly suplex from Bayley.

The action was then continued by all four women in an out of the ring, Banks delivers a backstabber to Cross and holds her in Bank Statement, Bayley tags herself in and throws Banks out of the ring. Banks then gets the tag and holds Cross in a crucifixion hold and pull her backwards and pins Cross to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship

Winner: Bayley & Sasha Banks – New Women’s Tag Team Champions.
