WWE Smackdown – 3rd July 2020 Result And Review

Preview: Sheamus is set to toast Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles will defend the Intercontinental Title against Drew Gulak, and Matt Riddle joins Michael Cole for an exclusive interview.

The show begins, Michael Cole calls out Matt Riddle and talks to him about his win over AJ Styles on SmackDown. As Riddle was talking King Baron Corbin comes out as he was unhappy with Riddle beating him at the end of his match last week. As an act of revenge, King Corbin demanded Riddle to fight John Morrison.

Match 1: Matt Riddle vs. John Morrison.

Bell rings, With Riddle having his second match on SmackDown since his debut, it is much needed for him to keep his winning streak going if he wants to face AJ Styles for the Intercontinental Championship in the future. Morrison did gave a tough fight, Riddle won the match by pinning Morrison. After the match, AJ Styles attacks Riddle, Riddle was saved by Drew Gulak.

Winner: Matt Riddle.

Match 2: AJ Styles vs. Drew Gulak – Intercontinental Championship Match.

Bell rings, Styles holding the Intercontinental title means he will always have a target on his back as he has invited the entire SmackDown’s roster to witness his Intercontinental Championship presentation. Drew Gulak is a highly skilled wrestler who considered Daniel Bryan as his mentor in the business is the first one to challenge Styles for the championship. Style then delivered a powerbomb followed by a Styles Clash, this was enough to win the match. But Styles delivers a Phenomenal Forearm to prove a point to the SmackDown’s roster and retained his title.

Winner: AJ Styles.

In the ring, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks come out and talks about their match heading to Extreme Rules and also made sure that the world knows how great they are. Hearing this, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss comes out and attacks Bayley. Without wasting any time Banks makes the match official, where Bayley will face Bliss for a match now.

Match 3: Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss.

Bell rings, as Banks has defeated Cross last week in a match which was made official by Bayley. So Banks volunteered her best friend Bayley to face Bliss this week. Bayley won the match by disqualification by the outside interference by Banks.

Winner: Bayley via disqualification.

It’s official, Bray Wyatt will face Braun Strowman in a Wyatt Swamp Fight for the Universal Championship at Extreme Rules – The Horror Show.

Match 4: Kofi Kingston vs. Shinsuke Nakamura.

Bell rings, The New Day is tired of being attacked from behind by Cesaro and Nakamura for the past few weeks, by now it’s clear that Cesaro and Nakamura are attacking The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Kingston decided to take the matter on his own hand by facing Nakamura in the squared ring. Nakamura did get a big win after he knocked out Kingston cold with a Kinshasa.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura.

Sheamus has invited his fellow blue brand Superstars to pop a bottle and join The Celtic Warrior in a toast to the legendary Jeff Hardy. Hardy came out to the ring, but Sheamus joined via satellite. Sheamus raised a toast by making fun of Hardy and told him to never change. Hardy poured the drink over the butler’s head and smashed a bottle on his head. To end the night Hardy delivered a Swanton Bomb to the butler as Sheamus watched.
